Service isn’t just something we do – it’s part of who we are
Serving isn’t about obligation or optics—it’s about connection, compassion, and showing up with a willing heart.
We believe God’s undeserved grace leads us to love and care for our neighbors in practical, meaningful ways.
Whether you’re new to volunteering or looking for a way to use your gifts, there’s a place for you here.

Compassion, grace, and hands-on love: right here in Mesa
You don’t need special skills—just a desire to help. Here are some ways we serve Mesa together:

CarePortal
CarePortal bridges the gap between child protective services and local churches. Caseworkers post family needs (furniture, car seats, etc.), and we respond. Since 2017, St. Luke volunteers have delivered essentials to families in crisis.

Sleep in Heavenly Peace
Since 2021, our St. Luke team has built and delivered bunk beds to children in need so no child has to sleep on the floor. St. Luke houses the East Mesa SHP Delivery hub.

Family Promise
We partner with Family Promise as an administrative and daytime hub. Family Promise is a 60-day program for families transitioning into independent housing.

Borderlands’ Produce on Wheels Without Waste (POWWOW)
For just $15, visitors receive 70 pounds of fresh produce. Our volunteers help with setup, unloading, and distribution on fifth Saturdays during the growing season.

LifeLine Health Screenings
Life Line Screening conducts fast, painless, and affordable screenings for leading risk factors for stroke and heart disease. Screening packages start at $139. Single tests cost around $70. Pre-registration is required.

Food Pantry & Water Bottle Donations
We’re always excepting nonperishable donations to help supplement the food pantry at our neighboring church, Heart of Mesa. We also accept cases of water bottles during the summer for the City of Mesa’s Hydration Stations.

Community Corners:
Monthly Donation Drives
Every month, we work with a local nonprofit to host a donation drive for their most-needed items. Previously, we’ve collected school supplies, diapers, bedding, and Christmas gifts.
A Night in Bethlehem
Step back in time to one miraculous night at our free family event!
Slip away from the busyness of the season and explore the little town of Bethlehem on the night Jesus was born. Stroll the marketplace and assemble a craft or two, enjoy cookies and hot cocoa, take a family photo, or visit the petting zoo at the live nativity – there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Songs & Stories, a live musical event featuring some of your favorite Christmas carols, will also be performed throughout the evening. It’s a great way to focus in on the joy and wonder of what Christmas is all about.
When: Friday, December 12th, from 5:30 – 8:00 p.m.

Love Our City Weekend
St. Luke’s annual Love Our City event is where we shower our community with the love and hope of Jesus through service projects. We work with local nonprofits on everything from handyman improvements to sorting and distributing food.
The 2026 Love Our City Weekend will be January 31 – February 2. Look for signups at the Worship Center lobby. There will be a limited number of slots at each event so sign up early!
