Your questions answered

Everything you need to know before you visit

What are your worship services like?2025-12-11T23:34:14+00:00

Our services are about an hour long and include music, prayer, and a message from our pastor that connects the Bible to everyday life. We try to keep things welcoming and comfortable for everyone. We don’t single out new guests or get overly emotional. We’re just real people, and we hope you feel that when you worship with us.

What should I wear?2025-12-11T21:49:29+00:00

Wear whatever makes you feel comfortable. You’ll see people in everything from shorts and t-shirts to business casual. Just come as you are—really!

Where do I park?2025-12-11T23:14:22+00:00

We have a large parking lot you enter from 8th Street with designated accessible parking close to the worship center entrance doors.

What do you offer for families?2025-12-11T23:23:49+00:00

Every Sunday we offer:

  • A professionally staffed nursery where you can drop-off your 0-2 year old with background-checked attendants from 8-11:30am.  We also have a separate family-toddler room with a livestream of the service available.
  • Classes for all ages (PreK-12) in our education wing from 9:30-10:15am. Younger children get checked in at an iPad for a security sticker.
  • Children’s Church for 4-8 year olds at our 10:30 service. While the pastor preaches, kids go and do a Bible-based activity and then return to their parents before communion. First-time guests can fill out a form at the info counter.
  • Plugged-In hangout events for Jr. & Sr. High youth (alternating Sundays) with lunch and a fun activity after our 10:30 service.
What do you believe?2025-12-11T22:28:28+00:00

We’re a Protestant Christian church (Lutheran, see below) that believes God is always bringing His restoring love into our world. We all have struggles and failures, but God’s word – the Bible – shows us our ultimate hope is in Jesus: His birth, life, death, and resurrection. From worship to community service, and kids’ events to adult studies, we want everything we do to point to that hope.

What does it mean to be a Lutheran?2025-12-11T22:29:14+00:00

The heart of the Lutheran faith is grace—God’s free forgiveness because of Jesus. In the 1500s, Martin Luther pushed back against the idea that people could buy forgiveness, calling the church back to the Biblical truth that grace comes through faith, not our own efforts. His reforms helped reshape the Western world. If you’d like to learn more, a great next step is joining us for “Breakfasts with the Pastor” (see below).

What if I’m not Lutheran—or not sure what I believe?2025-12-11T22:36:08+00:00

That’s okay. We’re a grace-centered church, which means there’s no pressure to pretend or conform. Everyone is on a journey—and you’re welcome here, wherever you are on yours. After worshipping with us, some people decide to become Lutheran, while others decide it’s not for them but keep worshiping with us. Whether you’re a Lutheran or not, we just want to help you get to know Jesus better.

Can my child take communion?2025-12-11T22:42:28+00:00

Communion is a sacred gift where we receive Jesus’ body and blood in, with, and under the bread and wine. Because the early church had to be reminded to treat this meal (and the people at it) with respect, we teach our 7th–8th graders about communion before they start taking it. However, we trust parents—if you’ve taught your child what we believe about communion, they’re welcome to receive it.

What does it mean to be a member at St. Luke?2025-12-11T20:56:27+00:00

We’re a members-led church, so big decisions—like calling a pastor—are made by our voting members. To become a member, you need to be baptized and agree with the core teachings of Lutheranism found in Luther’s Small Catechism, which you can learn about at our “Breakfasts with the Pastor” offered three times a year. If you’d like to be baptized, just fill out a baptism request, and we’ll set up a meeting for you with Pastor Luke.

How do I become a member?2025-12-11T20:52:38+00:00

To become a member, just join us for “Breakfasts with the Pastor.” For three Sundays, we share a meal, talk about our church and beliefs, and get to know each other. These breakfasts happen every January, April, and October, with signups available beforehand. If you’re already an active LCMS member, you can also ask our office to transfer your membership—but we still encourage you to come to the breakfasts!

How can I get to know more people here?2025-12-11T20:48:35+00:00

A great next step after worship is joining our 9:30 Sunday Bible study—there’s a class for every age. You can also check out our “Breakfast with the Pastor” events held three times a year to meet others and learn how to get connected. And if you want to jump in and serve, consider volunteering at a Produce on Wheels event or joining us for one of our church-wide meals like Oktoberfest, the Spring BBQ, or Easter breakfast.

Grace for the journey. Hope for your next step.

At St. Luke, you don’t have to have it all figured out to walk through our doors. Whether you’re exploring faith, returning to church after time away, or looking for a place your family can grow—you’re welcome here.
